In 2009, the Hawaii Medical Journal (HMJ) embarked on a new path. To continue its 70-year history, HMJ was transferred to a new publisher, UCERA, who will assure many more decades of original articles and reports that address the issues of medicine in Hawaii and the Pacific region.
This transition was the result of strategic planning by the Hawaii Medical Association leadership and a plan to assure you of the Journal's uninterrupted publication and quality. HMA continues to remain involved with the HMJ with seats on its editorial board.
The HMJ Editorial Board has voiced the expectations for its peer-reviewed journal. Its members, all volunteers, have a vision of growing HMJ as an asset to the practicing physician, academician, and public policy maker in a stable business model.
Preserving the HMJ's precious and critical MedLine accessibility and widening readership through the internet, the editorial board has renewed an enthusiasm for the future of Hawaii Medical Journal.
The new Journal format will be primarily electronic, with free access. Please visit www.hawaiimedicaljournal.org to view issues online or sign up for an online subscription. Print subscriptions are also available for a fee. For inquiries, go to www.hawaiimedicaljournal.org/contact.htm.
Mahalo for your support of the Hawaii Medical Journal.
